Registration has begun for Victoria College's noncredit Beginning Photography class focusing on the world of digital photography. Classes will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, April 7 to 17 in Room 204 of VC's Continuing Education Center.

Help is on the way!Victoria College will host a Financial Aid Night at Victoria East and West high schools to provide information about financial aid and offer assistance with the financial aid process to potential VC students and their families.

Learning "Stayin' Alive" can help others stay alive after a cardiac arrest. As part of Victoria College's Lunch and Learn Series, this health course will be from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday in Room 101 of the Academic Building on VC's Main Campus. The cost of the course is $9 and includes lunch.

Due to anticipated icy weather Tuesday evening, the Victoria College Guest and Faculty Recital has been rescheduled for Friday.

One of my favorite things about Victoria and the surrounding communities is the wide range of music that is performed live on any given day or evening. Sopranos Patricia Balmer and Eugenie Fuhrman will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Johnson Symposium on Victoria College's main campus.

As part of their school day on Thursday, Victoria ISD eighth-grade students will attend the Dream Big Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Expo at the Victoria College Health Science Building (2200 N. Red River St.). They'll be learning about great career opportunities in the STEM fields that are available in the Crossroads region.

Helping the community discover how Victoria College can help residents make more of their lives is the goal of the "Ask a Student" Fair at the Victoria Mall. The event, hosted by VC's Zeta Gamma Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, will be from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 21.

A jazz commercial concert performed by the VC Jazz Combo, VC Commercial Music Ensemble and Victoria East Jazz Band will be at 7 p.m. tonight in the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Victoria.

The VC/UHV Library will host an open house from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday. The free event is open to students, faculty, staff and the general public.

Victoria College will offer two presentations on railroad crossing safety for truck drivers and truck driver students at 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 30 in the Health Sciences Center, Room 133.

Victoria College will have its 19th annual Halloween Carnival from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in and around the VC Student Center.

Victoria College's Calhoun County Center in Port Lavaca will host an Information Night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
