Everything is bigger in Texas and it's list as a "destination spot" for filming movies in no exception. In fact, hundreds of films have been shot in our great state!

While movies like 1956's Giant, "An epic portrayal of a powerful Texas ranching family challenged by changing times and the coming of big oil" as Wiki offers, was not surprisingly shot on location on a ranch in Marfa, TX, there are still a plethora of movies like Spy Kids, a futuristic action/adventure film which might surprise you to learn was filmed in Austin.

Here are a few trailers for movies you might not have guessed were filmed in Texas.

Let's start with Alita: Battle Angel. This 2019 science fiction action film was based on the Japanese manga artist Yukito Kishiros 1990 series, Battle Angel. Robert Rodriguez, born and raised in San Antonio directed it and paid homage to his native state by filming the movie primarily in Austin.

Fast Food Nation, dubbed a comedy-drama that explores the health risk and social and environmental consequences of the fast-food industry staring Greg Kinnear and Bruce Willis was shot on location in both Austin and Houston, as well as Colorado and New Mexico, but mostly in Texas dagnabit!

Office Space, which is actually based on Mike Judge's ( Beavis and Butthead) "Milton" cartoon series which aired on SNL, was filmed in both Dallas and Austin Texas, which begs the question, "Is this good for the company?"

You bet it is!

What about dark comedy Bernie starring Jack Black? It was filmed in several Texas cities including Bastrop, Smithville, Georgetown, Lockhart, Carthage, and Austin.

It was based on a true story out of Carthage Texas and some of the Carthage townspeople play themselves in the movie.

One of the best romance movies of the 90's, Hope Floats starring Sandra Bullock and Harry Conick Jr. was filmed in Smithville Texas. Everybody knows Birdie's business probably before it was blared on national tv...that just screams Texas, right y'all?

We suspect you might not be too surprised to learn these next three films were also shot in Texas.

Adapted from the book originally written by Cormac McCarthy, No Country for Old Men was filmed primarily in the Big Bend area. Sure it won Best Picture and Best Screenplay, but if you've been to Big Bend you know it should have won for Best Location too.

One of our family favorites, Friday Night Lights, was filmed in Austin Texas. "You want to win state, you'll have to be a team of giants."

You'll also film in Texas. Just saying.

Matthew McConaughey is a Texas native, born in Uvalde and a UT graduate, so he fit right in when Dazed and Confused began filming in Austin. It was Matthew's first film. He did better than alright, alright, alright. Am I right?

Rounding out the list are a few movies that certainly should have been filmed in Texas, and so...they were.

Selena. It's been 25 years since the sad death of Lake Jackson, Texas native, Selena Quintanilla-Perez, but it still brings tears to her fans' eyes knowing her life was cut short at the age of 23. The movie honoring her life and legacy stars Jennifer Lopez and was filmed in Corpus, Austin and San Antonio.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. It's right there in the title. Okay fine, it was mostly filmed on the Universal lot in Los Angeles, BUT parts of the movie were filmed in Pflugerville...the good parts.

Umm...also in the title... The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Oh look we're out of time.
