In Victoria, we are very proud of our young people and the many pursuits made available to them, not the least of which are the great music programs at all of our fine schools. Tuesday evening you will have a chance to support  the Victoria West High School Band.

The Victoria West High School Band's spring concert will boast a musical piece the band co-commissioned from an Argentinian composer. The wind symphony will play a piece called "Los Andes" that premiered in March in Indianapolis. West High School's rendition will be the second run of the piece, said West Band Director Adam Ardner.

George Wolfe, Ardner's former saxophone professor at Ball State University, will perform as a guest at the show. He'll also host saxophone clinics for band members in sixth through 12th grade. "Exposure to great musicians never hurts," Ardner told the Victoria Advocate.

About 80 West band members will take the stage in VISD's Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening  for the spring concert.
