Ingra Lee had the chance to speak to Dawson DeBord, lead singer of Southpaw for a few minutes today to share with you what you can expect from this young local up and coming band.

" We love old country, new country, and Southern rock" Dawson offered off the bat. " You'll get a chance to hear covers you love mixed with our latest originals during our live performance on January 28th," Dawson says.

This family band includes bass player for Southpaw, Dawson's uncle, Bruce DeBord, and Tess Horan, Dawson's cousin on rhythm and vocals. Rounding out the band are friends Colby Blahuta on lead electric as well as Adam Orosco on drums.

Now... about their name? Dawson says it was almost "showtime' for the band's first performance in Sweet Home. They needed a NAME! Dawson says band member Colby is left-handed and they call him Southpaw. In a pinch that's the name they used for the show and the name stuck!

When not performing on stages throughout South Texas the Southpaw Band have been in the recording studio working on their first titled album, ' This Old Cowboy.' Look for the album release in March!
