DeTar Volunteers Host Bake Sale for Flood Relief Aug. 7
DeTar volunteers are throwing a bake sale on Thursday, August 7th. There’s going to be cookies and brownies and all the sugary stuff you'd expect, but it’s not just about sweets.
Every dollar from the sale is going straight to help families hit hard by the recent flooding in Kerr County. So if you already planned on buying yourself a little sweet treat, you might as well make it one that does some good.
It’s happening Thursday, August 7th, from 10 am to 1 pm, inside the main lobby of DeTar Hospital Navarro. Swing by, grab a treat, maybe two, and know that you’re helping someone rebuild their life. That’s a pretty solid reason to splurge on dessert, if you ask me...
“Every cookie, cupcake, and pie purchased helps bring relief to those in need,” said Patty Scevers, President of the DeTar Volunteer Services Board.
Volunteers keep DeTar running in more ways than people probably realize. They’re the ones greeting people at the front doors, keeping the gift shop stocked, and stepping in to help staff wherever they’re needed. Every year, they put in thousands of hours, just quietly making things easier for everyone else.
“We want our community to know that volunteering at DeTar is about more than just service – it’s about connection, joy, and making a real difference in people’s lives,” said Scevers. “Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or just curious about how you can help, we invite everyone to stop by and say hello.”
