Yorktown ‘Boot Scootin’ To Benefit Library
What better way to have some good, clean fun and support the Yorktown Public Library than with a good old fashioned boot scootin'? You're invited to join the fun this Saturday!
The second annual Yorktown Public Library Boot Scootin' Dance Competition will be Saturday at the Nordheim Shooting Club. The Victoria Advocate reports that the event starts at 6 p.m. with a hamburger supper followed by the dance competition at 7 p.m.
Representatives from area nonprofit organizations will take to the dance floor to compete for donations from the audience. All couples will dance a waltz first, then a song of their choice. A panel of judges will score the competitors and the audience will also fill out a form for best dancer and most entertaining dancers.
Among the organizations expected to compete are area volunteer fire departments, Keep Yorktown Beautiful, Yorktown Lions Club, the Yorktown Library and the Yorktown police department.
A $5 admission to the hall benefits the library and does not include the hamburger supper. After the dance competition, everyone can dance to music by Texas Backroads Entertainment.
The Nordheim Shooting Club is located at the end of Broadway Street in Nordheim. For more information call 361-564-3232.
