Victoria Parks and Rec Listens As Splash Pads Extend Hours
Victoria Parks and Recreation Listened to the Community
One of the things I appreciate most about our Crossroads leaders including those at the City of Victoria is their openness to hearing from the community. Here is a perfect example of the City of Victoria hearing a request and making it happen!
Victoria Parks and Recreation has announced extended hours at the splash pads!
As the summer days get longer the Victoria Parks and Recreation Department has announced that after multiple requests from Crossroads community members, Crossroads kids can now spend more time enjoying the water at the City of Victoria Parks & Recreation splash pads.
City of Victoria Civic Alert
According to the official City of Victoria alert, " Effective Saturday, July 3, the splash pads will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m."
That's 12 full hours of summer fun at the splash pads in Victoria! Yay for summer fun and yay for Victoria Parks and Recreation for hearing and responding to Crossroads community member requests!
Victoria Parks and Recreation Director Jason Alfaro offers his thoughts.
"We’ve had residents request this change, so we know the extended hours will be helpful for those who want to use the splash pads earlier or later in the day when it’s not as hot outside,” said Parks & Recreation Director Jason Alfaro.
Where are the splash pads located?
Parks & Recreation currently operates two splash pads: one at Ethel Lee Tracy Splash Pad, 1507 Placido Benavides Drive, and the other at Lone Tree Creek Splash Pad, 4009 E. Airline Road.
But wait, there is more good news!
In addition to the extended hours, Victoria Parks & Recreation is suspending its reservation system for splash pads. The splash pads will now be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reservations that were made before this policy change will still be honored.
