Victoria County COVID-19 Exposure Locations Identified
After our Victoria Health Department was notified of the three confirmed COVID-19 cases in Victoria County, the next step in painstaking work for the Victoria Health Department laid immediately ahead. Where had the confirmed cases traveled to within the community and who could have potentially been exposed to the virus during the time these community members were contagious?
Dr. John McNeill has been a guest at Townsquare Media giving live interviews and most recently offered a harrowing fact; Although COVID-19 has been identified as being "like flu" in it's the symptoms; upper respiratory stress, fever and cough, the flu is know to spread to 1.3 persons once they are in contact with someone who is infectious. COVID-19 on the other hand, is known to spread to 3 people once they are in contact with someone who is infectious. Dr. McNeill offers, " Do the math. It's incredible. This is why we continue to encourage social distancing, hand washing and limiting public interaction."
As the Victoria Health Department can attest, identifying the locations of where the three cases traveled was paramount in stopping the spread.
Crossroads Today has released the following locations as places at least one of the individuals traveled within our community, listing the individual case as most likely being community transmitted.
Currently two locations have been identified as places one individual traveled;
Loan Max located at 3201 N. Navarro on Thursday and Friday March 19th & 20th.
Sprint Store located at 6230 N. Navarro on Saturday March 21st.
The three individuals are isolating at home ,being monitored and currently only experiencing mild symptoms at this time. Their family members and anyone who has been in direct contact with these individuals are also being monitored.
If you have any questions, information or concerns you are welcomed to call the Victoria COVID-19 Hotline at 361.580.5796.
Again, the best ways to stop the spread of COVID-19 is to wash your hands frequently, practice social distancing and limit public interactions.
