Top Ten Things to Do In The Crossroads Before the End of October
We won't let anyone say there isn't anything to do in the Crossroads! Just check out this list of the Top Ten Things to Do In The Crossroads Before the End of October!
The month of October is also the time to recognize and bring awareness to several causes as we honor loved ones throughout the community this month with National ADHD, National Domestic Violence Awareness, National Down Syndrome Awareness and National Breast Cancer Awareness respectfully happening now through the end of October.
Please click on the links in blue above and below to find out more about how we can help support our community.
As the Crossroads cools off, and temperatures slowly begin to drop (for South Texans, it's more like a drip) it's time to pull out those sweaters, brew some pumpkin spice and cover our toes with socks. Because in Texas... men wear socks with their flip flops.
Here are our Top Ten Things to Do in the Crossroads before the end of October.
10. Run! Yep, you heard us right, RUN.
Run in one of the most popular 5K/10K marathons in our community, Citizen's Run Against Cancer, on Saturday October 22nd, The run starts at 7am. Sooo worth getting up early for! All proceeds from this event benefit local patients who are battling cancer. Since its inception in 2017, more than $130,000 has been raised to benefit local cancer patients through the Citizens Run Against Cancer. Click the link here.

8. Night at the Museum... with a flashlight that is!
Museum of the Coastal Bend invites you to see the MCB like you've never seen it before... in the dark. Well, you'll have a flashlight, which is provided so you don't accidentally bump into and break an important historical artifact, but you get the idea. You also get to see a chupacabra too! Thursday October 27th and at the Museum of the Coastal Bend from 6 to 7pm. For details, click here.
7. Who Is Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
It's your chance to support our local fur babies and have a really spooky time doing it! Dorothy O'Connor Pet Adoption Center, (DOCPAC) provides homeless dogs & cats a caring environment with the purpose of adoption into their own loving homes, is hosting a Howler's Haunted Forest! Event dates vary but the first evening of steering clear of the Big Bad Wolf is Friday October 21st from 7 to 10pm at DOCPAC.
6. It's the Great Pumpkin... patch
We love all of the pumpkin patch events in the Crossroads but there just seems to be something extra special about First Methodist's Pumpkin Patch. Maybe, just maybe, it's because this sweet church located at 407 Bridge Street has been the 'go- to' in Victoria for fall backdrop photos with the kids for 30 years. So many pumpkins, so many years! The pumpkin patch is open now through October 31st from 9am to 7pm.
5. Run again! Wait hear us out!
It's the 6th Annual Boozy Bash Dash and one of the easiest, cough, ya we said it, athletic events in the Crossroads. This anti- running competition which boasts an astonishing 164 feet from start to finish line is held in the name of charity! You can help support our very own Food Bank of the Golden Crescent just by lacing up your shoes and literally walking from one side of Aero Crafters parking lot to the other on Saturday October 15th from 4 to 11:45pm. Yes, pm. The race is at a bar people! Check this out here!
4. Haunted Houses are So Yesterday
We would be remiss in not offering that the Texas Zoo does a great job out of jump scaring adults in the community with their Haunted Zoo which is open on two weekends exclusively starting October 21st at 8pm. Around every corner of the Texas Zoo, a new terror awaits with scenes that will haunt you! Don't miss out on the scariest haunted house in all of Victoria! Recommended for mature audiences.
3. A Not too Spooky Spectacular
For years now the Victoria Symphony has been dazzling the children in our community by joining two incredible arts; symphony and ballet to bring our community the Symphonic Spooktacular on Thursday October 20th at the Victoria ISD Fine Arts Center. If you've never been, trust us, go.
3. Lost and Found!
Yes we know there are two number 3s but there was a tie, sooooo coming in at #3 ALSO is the Rocky Creek Corn Maze. If you've never taken your family, this is the year to go! And if you have, its time to go AGAIN! We cant tell you the number of times we've heard how much families love the corn maize and one of our very own, DJ JP offers this tip. He says go as early as you can if you like a real challenge because the corn stalks are still fresh. We think he got lost in the maze the first year he went!!!
2. Honoring Our Deep Mexican Culture with Dia De Muertos Downtown
"Come and Celebrate Dia De Muertos in historic downtown Victoria" the Facebook invitation reads and WE ARE SOOO THERE! One of our most favorite holidays of the year, Dia De Muertos is a tradition that honors and celebrated those who have gone before us and downtown Victoria is the place to be! The festival will begin it's celebration on Saturday October 29th at 5pm in and around Deleon Plaza but please check the Facebook link here now for more Dia De Muertos events throughout the end of the month.
1. Hallows Eve Boo Bash!
Okay we might be a little biased here, but we know how much fun you and your kiddos will have at the Hallows Eve Boo Bash in downtown Victoria at DeLeon Plaza on October 20th from 3 to 5pm because well... we are the ones who planned the event! Plus we know how amazing our community is for banding together so we can offer you and your kiddos a FREE Halloween event! Costume contests, candy and a foam party, we've got it all! It's your one stop shop for trick or treating the day BEFORE Halloween.
Plus come on, this year Halloween falls on a Monday. LAME! So join us Sunday for our Hallows Eve Boo Bash and you can get your kids to bed on time Monday!
Be sure to click the links we gave you as some of these events will require the purchase of a ticket. Hey we said there is a lot to do, we didn't say it was all free!
Whatever you choose to do, have a blast and remember you can always send photos right from your phone to our station apps! We'd love to share them with the community!
