Taylor Swift fans, the Eyes of Texas Are Upon You!

If you don't like Taylor Swift you'll need to 'Shake It Off' for this article because this one is for the hardcore Taylor Swift fans! If you consider yourself a Swiftie, an English class at the University of Texas will now feature a semester of Taylor Swift's lyrical genius and we're betting this class fills up fast!

The Austin Statemen offers, "The new course is called Literary Contests and Contexts — The Taylor Swift Songbook and will provide students with an “introduction to literary studies and research methods” using her songwriting, according to a Facebook post by UT’s English department.

As a family in the Crossroads that bleeds burnt orange and white, and who also just happens to love Taylor Swift, this class is the perfect way to perk up the ears and English interest of even the math major of the household!

Why Taylor Swift you might be wondering? Taylor Swift is considered a phenomenal lyricist even though she does partner with other songwriters for some of her biggest hits, she is still credited for co-writing every single one of her songs.

And her list of songs that have become hits where she is credited as the solo writer is pretty impressive as well. You can read her full list of songwriting credits from Billboard Magazine here.

The University of Texas isn't the only educational institution in Texas to blend pop culture with its curriculum.

Texas State is offering a Harry Styles class in 2023! According to NPR, "Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet and European Pop Culture," for the spring of 2023."

UT, 'Look What You Made Me Do'... pay for an English class next semester that features Taylor Swift songs! But hey,  where will our future songwriters come from if we don't give writers the opportunity to span the horizon for new forms of creating?

I mean, wouldn't you want to take a Script to Screen class from Matthew McConaughey which he started teaching in person  in 2015, if you were interested in filmmaking?
