Fourteen graduates of Victoria College’s Spring 2019 Emergency Medical Technician Course were honored with a ceremony on May 2 at VC’s Student Center.  James Keyser of Cost was named the class valedictorian, and Troy Youngblood of Victoria was named class salutatorian. Andrew Mansfield of Cuero received the Best Skills Performance and Best Clinical Performance awards.  Oscar Cantu of Ganado received the Peer Award for Best in Class.

Other graduates were Jordan Barber, Carl Caughey, Kevin Jackson, Christian Luck, Derik McClain and Hali Phillips, all of Victoria; A’Lora Rother of Gonzales; and Ahniwake James, Erwin Silva and Devyn Watkins, all of Port Lavaca.

The students completed 80 hours of hands-on clinical training in emergency room, respiratory therapy and emergency medical services while also completing six college credit hours of classroom lecture and labs totaling over 124 hours. Each student completed a total of 264 class hours.

The next EMT Course begins Monday, May 20 for the summer semester. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 5.
