I love this time of year. There is literally more to do than you can make time for. What a great problem to have. I do suggest, however, you take time to enjoy beautiful downtown Victoria this Thursday evening during 'Downtown Rhythms'.

Music lovers get ready, it's time again for Victoria Symphony's Downtown Rhythms at DeLeon Plaza. The free, outdoor concert will play Broadway showstoppers, movie classics and even music from video games, such as World of Warcraft.

"Downtown Rhythms brings a more popular vein of music to the symphony including jazz, pop-rock, Broadway, film and television,"  Maestro Darryl One told the Victoria Advocate.

Special guest performances from several school ensembles including the VISD Chamber Orchestra, Smith Elementary ORFF Ensemble, VEHS Percussion Ensemble and VC Commercial Band will perform. Education Coordinator Debbie Durham said there will be an array of performers from children to adults. "Downtown Rhythms performers testify to the talent in the Crossroads area, not only of performers, but also our hardworking music educators," she said.

'Downtown Rhythms' takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at DeLeon Plaza, 100 N. Main St.  Admission is free. For more information visit www.victoriasymphony
