WOW! As a very happy iPhone user since the 3GS was released, I'm excited to see this newest development from Apple that will interface the iPhone directly into a vehicle's dashboard audio system, utilizing a new automotive version called CarPlay! As profiled at joesdaily.com:

Apple has announced CarPlay (FREE), a built-in iOS coming to new cars in 2014 that work with the iPhone 5, 5c, and 5s. Using your car’s existing controls and touch screen, CarPlay will allow you to make and answer calls, get directions, send and receive texts, play music, and a whole bunch more.

According to Apple.com, CarPlay is available for model year 2014 on vehicles from Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo. However, Apple also says they have a large list of "committed partners" (including Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota and several others) who will offer CarPlay on "future models."
