CharlieMac Saturday Drink Specials
Ready for a weekend of fun? How do you celebrate your weekends? Do you go out with others? Do you enjoy your own company because your weekly routine has you interacting with people you would normally avoid in your "Outside Of Work" life? Do you want try testing your own skills at being a bartender? If that last one is how you roll, then here are some simple recipes that are fun to make as they are to consume...the finished product is fun to consume not the recipe itself. You can't eat digital content. Unless you're a computer virus in human form...and that's cheating.
Seeing as how last week was May 4th, it should be no surprise that there are Star Wars themed beverages. Here is one for all the fans out there.
Floating Yoda (original source)
1 ½ oz Kahlua
1 ½ oz Vodka
½ oz Milk
1 scoop Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
First, top off a glass with ice. Then add the Kahlua and Vodka (flavor of vodka is up to you) and gently stir. Next, pour the milk (be careful not to overflow the glass) and at the scoop of ice cream.
Whiskey Sour (original source)
3 oz Whiskey
4 tsp Powdered Sugar
In a shaker with ice add the whiskey. Then squeeze the juices from the limes and lemons into the shaker and add the powdered sugar. Shake well until the sugar is dissolved and then strain into a glass with ice. Optional, but feel free to garnish with a lemon wedge to make it pretty…or don’t waste anymore time on presentation and get to the part where you drink and enjoy.
Smoky Michelada (original source)
¼ cup Chilled Tomato Juice
1 tbs Fresh Lime Juice
12 oz Amber Mexican Beer
1 ½ - 2 tsp Chipotle Hot Sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/8 tsp Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
Rimming – Honey, Salt, Ground Chipotle Chile Powder
Combine the salt and ground Chipotle Chile powder into a shallow dish. Put honey around the rim of the glass and then dip it into in the salt and Chile powder mix. Next, combine the other ingredients into a pitcher and stir it all up (judge how much more or less of the ingredients are needed based on your taste preference). Pour the mixture into the rimmed glass and enjoy. There is enough to share, so don’t go drinking it all by yourself. Sharing is caring after all.
Boston Rum Punch (original source)
2 oz Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaica Rum
2 oz Lemonade
Garnish – Strawberry, Orange Slice
Add the rum and lemonade into a shaker with ice and shake well. Then strain the concoction into a glass with ice and garnish with the strawberry and orange slice.
All, if not most, of these drink ingredients can be found at your local liquor store. Townsquare Media and KIXS 108 do not condone underage drinking and encourage you to drink responsibly. Have a safe and fun weekend!
