If you are headed to Corpus Christi for Spring Break, here is a fun fact that might save your life. KIII reports a local towing company is prepared to offer a free tow to prevent folks from getting behind the wheel if they have been overserved.

Beginning tonight at 6 p.m. through Sunday, March 15th, Apollo Towing will offer a free tow to spring breakers in Portland, Corpus Christi, and Robstown. Remember, there is no reason to ever drink and drive. Apollo Towing says this service is being offered in memory of fallen Corpus Christi Police officer Alan McCollum and injured CCPF Officer Michael Love. McCollum was killed by a drunk driver who struck him during a traffic stop on January 31st. Michael Love was injured in the crash but was able to survive.

Michael Staff is the Vice-President of the towing company told the media, "Our community was hit hard by the tragic loss of Officer McCollum and injury of Officer Love by an allegedly impaired driver.”

There are some criteria in order to qualify for the free ride.

  • Tows must happen in Corpus Christi, Portland, or Robstown zip codes
  • The towed vehicle has to be operational
  • Apollo Towing Service will transport vehicle and driver no guests or extra passengers
  • You must have keys to the vehicle

  • No questions asked
