Willie Nelson does Gay song in Texas
Willie Nelson has always been known for being outspoken on issues like war, immigration, and marijuana laws. Now, at 90, he is coming out with a new duet with openly gay country artist Orville Peck.
Nelson and Peck's collaboration marks the first release from Peck's forthcoming duets album. Their track covers Ned Sublette's 1981 song "Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other." Nelson previously recorded a version of the song in 2006.
Country artist Orville Peck and Willie team up to sing about gay and lesbian cowboys. Peck wears his new style mask, and he and Willie look to have fun doing the video. Willie does part of the video on the porch of the Abbott, Texas, church that he and Sister Bobbie grew up playing in.
The video shows same-sex couples two-stepping and mingling in the bar while Peck and Willie sing. It will make you smile at the obvious gay undertones of the lyrics.
Willie Nelson is a Texas and American treasure. He has been on many duets over his career, and now, at 90 years of age, he is still using his talents to share his views on society.Twitter/Orville Peck
As reported by Queerty.com, "Peck has a cult following amongst fans of country music, but Nelson’s involvement on this track has ensured it’s reached a whole new audience. Online, many have been delighted by the veteran singer’s support. We suspect many were unaware he had covered the song before."
No artist sets an example better than Wille Nelson for living peacefully and embracing each other.
