The Victoria Police Department has just released an accident report for Victoria for the month of June with a few May statistics as well.  June: Seventeen(17) traffic accidents were caused by someone who failed to control their speed. Fifteen(15) disregarded stop-and-go signals and nine (9) involved a person or persons that were under the influence of alcohol.

Now let's take a look at accident data from the month of May that features the top intersections that had crashes for May 2021. Thanks to Victoria Police Department Crime Analyst Erin Gabrysch for gathering this data.

Top intersections for car accidents in Victoria during May 2021 and features a couple of random intersections.

  • Navarro and Crestwood – 3 crashes
  • Mockingbird and Laurent, Juan Linn and Brownson, Allendale and Lova, Navarro and Kelly, and Navarro and Lasalle Crossing all had 2 crashes during the month of May.

While three of the intersections on the list are on Navarro, they are not happening in the high-volume area between HEB Plus and the Loop 463 frontage road.  That section of Navarro was an accident hotspot back in October of 2020 in this same report from the police department. So it seems that the median is doing what it is supposed to.

Just in case you didn't know, TXDOT is planning for another median project along Rio Grande and Houston Highway(Business 59). The proposed new median will be almost four miles long and like the current median, will have left-turn lanes at various points.  Drive safe my friends.
