What Was That Unexplained Light in the Sky Last Night
Last night, I started to see people in Victoria post about a strange light in the sky. It turns out it wasn't just in Victoria but many people in Texas reported seeing something strange just after 10 o'clock. According to the American Meteor Society, the biggest concentration of reports of a fireball in the sky came from the Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio areas, but some people right here in Victoria posted about seeing something strange in the sky as well.
This has not yet officially been confirmed as a meteor. However, there are three active meteor showers going on right now. The Southern Delta Aquariids, which peak on July 29 and 30, the Alpha Capricornids, which peaks on July 30 and 31, and the Perseids, which peak on August 11 and 12. This means there is a chance you could see something else in the sky in the near future. Several witnesses near the flight path reported hearing a delayed sonic boom, indicating that meteorites from this fireball may have survived down to the ground.
As reported by KHOU, over 200 people reported seeing this ball of light to the American Meteor Society. Take a look at the map of reported sightings. While no one officially reported seeing this thing in Victoria. There were reports from Yoakum and Goliad. Did you see this light? Did your home surveillance catch it? Share it with us! Keep looking up! You never know what you are going to see!
