I think there's just something rather symmetrical about a new month starting on a Monday.  To me, it just kind of starts off the month in an "orderly" fashion. But, that's just me, I guess! Anyway, with a brand-new month upon us, I thought I'd share some little-known designations for the days of this month, starting with July 1st.

July 1st is "officially:"
Build a Scarecrow Day
He’ll help keep the birds out of your garden…hopefully. Wouldn’t you think that a scarecrow day be held in the fall? Some farmers believe not, they will use scarecrows during the summer while their crops are growing.

Canada Day
Canadian Independence Day. Did you know it celebrates the unity of the 3 British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada all the way back in 1867? 2013 is the 146th birthday! They turned this unity into 4 provinces, which created in the process Ontario and Quebec.

International Joke Day
Take a chill pill and relax. Laugh a little as you participate in this very funny holiday. Why not tell and listen to jokes all day when times like these can be a bit unnerving?
