This week, Victoria Crime Stoppers needs your help solving a cold case from 1976. This case is a murder case, and it's about a man who initially went missing in early December of that year.
On December 5, 1976, John Lawrence Godfrey was reported missing by his family. His vehicle, a bluish green station wagon was found later that day on the 300 block of East South Street in Victoria. Two days later, at approximately 10:20 am, Godfrey’s body was located on Hiller Road. His death was ruled a homicide. Investigators with the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office are asking anyone with information about this crime to contact Victoria Crime Stoppers at 572-4200. All tips are anonymous and if you give information that leads to arrest or indictment, you could earn a cash reward.
