UHV’s Allen named to All-Region team

University of Houston-Victoria senior golfer Jonathan Allen was recently named to the NAIA-PING All-Region men's golf team announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.  Allen, who became the first UHV player to win an individual title this year, was one of 15 players selected to the west region squad.  The honor caps off an impressive senior season for Allen who also qualified for the Texas State Amateur in June.

Allen opened the 2011-12 season with UHV's first-ever individual title when he posted a 7-under 209 to capture the Texas Lutheran John Bohmann Memorial event with a two-shot victory.  Allen paced the Jaguars with a 74.3 scoring average in seven events this past season and was named the UHV men's Golfer of the Year.  "This is a great honor for Jonathan," said UHV golf coach Brian Williamson. "He is very deserving of the award."
