The Duck Pond at Riverside Park is Officially Open [PHOTOS]
After about 5 years, a beloved Riverside Park icon is open to the public once again. The newly reopened Riverside Park duck pond features a few upgrades, including seating along the edge of the pond, decorative water fountains with LED lighting, a floating fishing pier, and a gazebo overlook with a planter box and waterfall.
The duck pond had been closed since late 2018 because of structural damage that was caused by erosion and worsened by Hurricane Harvey. The updated pond includes design changes that will help to prevent erosion, such as the new retaining wall, the relocation of the gazebo, and the merging of two separate water bodies into one pond.
The City will host a public ribbon-cutting ceremony for the duck pond in early 2024 as part of Victoria’s bicentennial celebration. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
This Texas Police Department Can Send You a Ticket via Text
Imagine getting a text that has a speeding ticket attached. This is something that has been happening for almost two years. A police department in the San Antonio area was one of the first areas in the nation to try out this new program. Trusted Driver is a web-based program where drivers can avoid seeing a police officer face-to-face, and instead get a ticket via text message. The reason the program is being rolled out is brilliant.
THEY CAN ALSO SEND YOU POSITIVE MESSAGES:
Through Trusted Driver, police are also able to send positive messages to drivers who are doing a stellar job obeying traffic laws. The program launchedlast year in Windcrest. If this launch is successful, the hope is to roll this out nationwide. For now, this is only available to drivers who live in Windcrest
