Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood Get the Goat Treatment
Rural living is often a theme in country music videos, so it's rather reasonable to expect a farm animal to make a cameo in a clip from country music's biggest names. With that said, we don't think creative fan-made "goat versions" of 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and 'Blown Away' are what Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood had in mind when they released their blockbuster videos. Both were victims of a new internet craze called "goating."
In the hilarious clips, a screaming goat was interjected into the two high-budget videos at strategic moments to garner a few unintended chuckles. Swift's remix was an effective ploy to break up the melodramatic nature of the video -- worthy of viewing repeatedly without losing its comedic value. She must have liked it too, as she tweeted the link "In celebration of I Knew You Were Trouble staying at #1 for a 6th week at pop radio."
Underwood's clip (seen below) was not quite as successful, but proves that she and Swift have transcended the country music genre and are both viewed as pop culture icons. The superstar is also a big fan of the prank.
"Laughing so hard, I'm crying! I love these vids! Goats. Are. Awesome!" Underwood tweeted, linking to the vid.
Swift and Underwood's clips are the only two to be given the hilarious remix, but with both earning instant success as viral sensations on YouTube, we are inclined to think there may be more attempts in the future.
