With rain chances at about 90% today for the Crossroads area we are keeping an eye on the National Weather Service as they report there is a marginal risk for severe storms this afternoon into the early evening.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop as a cold front moves through the area. Isolated storms could increase in strength across Lavaca, Fayette, Lee, and Eastern Bastrop Counties along with parts of Victoria County. The biggest threat will be for strong winds that may form as a result of these storms.

The storm prediction center has placed Victoria and the Crossroads within the at-risk area for severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Wind, hail, and an isolated tornado will be possible this afternoon and early this evening.

Texas beaches will see an increased risk for Rip Currents over the next day or two. The National Weather Service reports that today's risk will be moderate, while there is a higher risk at the beaches of South Padre Island and at Boca Chica tomorrow. Small craft advisories could be issued this evening for the Texas coast.

As we get ready for today's storms there appear to be two different windows for thunderstorm activity. A window for midday storms between 10a and 3p, and then a window for slightly stronger storms after 3 pm. Winds could pick up to 20+mph as the storms develop today. Rainfall amounts between one quarter and half an inch will be possible today.
