Day began viciously banging on his neighbor's front door and suddenly, he opened fire into the home. Mike Gerica and his family were suddenly woken from their sleep. The terrifying gunshots began flying into the home. Confused and startled, Garcia thought they might be encountering a seriously violent home invasion, Garcia admits, "My mind was thinking this is an invasion ... not sure what was going on but it wasn't good."

As Day is firing rounds into the home he begins yelling, "'Open the effin' door and no one gets hurt," Gerica said. Quickly, Garcia jumped into action, his number one priority was keeping the violent man out and his family safe. "It was going to be him, or him and me. I was going to do anything in my power to make sure my wife and kids were OK," Gerica said.

Garcia began to arm himself and get ready to protect his family at all costs. He grabbed his gun while his wife called 911. Garcia claimed Day shot 46 rounds into their home. Thankfully, the entire family was upstairs away from the gunshots, which were all aimed downstairs.

GUNSHOTS ALL OVER

The majority of the bullets went through the front door and landed in the downstairs hallway, which made holes across the wall. Amazingly, no one in the home was hurt, "We're just so thankful we're all safe and we're here today," Gerica said.

Day was arrested after police spotted him leaving the area in a car. When he was pulled over, he had a variety of guns and ammunition on him, including an AR-15 style rifle. Day was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
