‘Senior Prank’ Gone Wrong in New Braunfels Forces School Closure
I am seeing many examples of 'Senior Pranks' on social media, and I have also seen a few that have gotten out of hand. This story comes out of New Braunfels, Texas. Seniors at New Braunfels went too far! According to a Facebook post, the pranks were supposed to be cute and innocent such as confetti-filled balloons all over the gym. however, that was not the case!
According to mysanantonio.com, on Wednesday, May 18th, several social media posts showed how students used toilet paper, raw meat, and eggs to throw around the hallways. The post also claimed the trespassers broke locks off trophy cases, stole trophies, put holes in walls, and clogged drains with mashed potatoes.
The damage was so bad, that classes were canceled the very next day on Thursday, May 19th. According to the article, the New Braunfels Police Department officers had arrived to find a large number of people inside the school committing acts of criminal mischief. The crowd immediately scattered, fleeing in a number of different directions. Any student that showed up on that Wednesday night to partake in the prank has been suspended. As far as them walking the stage, that will be determined this week.
Senior pranks used to be commonplace back in the day, and to be honest, we did some pretty shady stuff back then too. I mean, I think we perfected 'egging' back in the 80s and 90s. However, to permanently deface the school by punching holes in the wall or stealing school property is crossing the line.
