What is going on in Victoria?  Another shooting in Victoria happened in the early morning hours on Tuesday morning.

From a Victoria Police Department Press Release:

On Tuesday, March 2nd, at 12:37 AM, Victoria Police Department received calls of shots fired from a residence at 6800 N. Navarro St. Officers arrived on the scene at 12:42 AM.

Investigation revealed that a group of people arrived at the residence, broke a window, and attempted to enter the residence to obtain property and fight with the residents after a previous altercation. One of the residents, a 34-year-old female, fired a weapon at the suspects. As the suspects retreated, gunfire was returned; however, no one was injured.

The suspects left the location in a vehicle.
A short time later, a 31-year-old female arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. Officers responded to that location and detained several of the suspects while the suspect who had been shot was transferred to an out-of-town hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

VPD officers located and seized the suspect vehicle in the 3400 block of Cedar St.
As a result of the investigation, 17-year-old Miguel Acosta was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, and Deadly Conduct. Acosta was transported to the Victoria County Jail. One of the 14-year-old juvenile suspects was detained on a Directive to Apprehend for a prior burglary offense and transported to the Victoria County Juvenile Detention Center.

Charges are pending for the other suspects involved in this incident, including the 31-year-old female who was shot, and the other juveniles.
This is believed to have been an isolated incident and is an ongoing investigation.

Just last week, Joanna Martinez was shot in the leg after answering a knock at the front door of her home on Louis Street.   According to the Victoria Police Department, Multiple shots were fired, but only one shot hit Martinez.

The four to five men were described as wearing all black clothing and were last seen leaving the location in a dark-colored sedan, according to a Victoria Police Department press release. As of Friday, the Victoria Police Department determined that the parties involved are connected and that the shooting was not a random event, Brogger said.
