A Stroman Raider Mega Class Reunion is Happening This Weekend
Whenever rivalry time comes around in Victoria, I can't help but think about the original Victoria Stingaree/Stroman Raider rivalry game. How can you not? It was electric! So this weekend, it's fitting that there would also be a Stroman Raider Mega Reunion that includes all Stroman High School graduates!

Stroman High School was open from 1967 until 2000, when the high schools were consolidated to create Memorial High School. The rivalry lasted a total of 31 years, with the overall record 24-8 in favor of the Victoria Stingarees.
However, the Stroman Raiders ruled the stands with the big band stand. Those Friday nights were intense at Memorial Stadium. The final game of this high intensity rivalry took place in September of 1999! The Victoria Stingarees won the game 53-21.
The districts were way different back then!
Back then, both schools were 5A schools and were placed with the Corpus Christi schools. Opponents back then were teams like Corpus Christi Ray, Moody, King, Carroll, and we can't forget about those pesky Alice Coyotes.
Today's alignment has East and West in different districts, which makes their matchup a non-district affair and takes away some of the luster of the game. This year's rivalry game takes place on Friday, September 4, at Memorial Stadium. East will be the visitors, and West will be the home team.
