The Sacred Heart Parish Spring Picnic will be at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville Sunday starting at 10am. A meal of country fried chicken, stew and home-made cornbread dressing with all the trimmings will be served from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Kolaches, cakes, pies and many other pastries will also be available. The meal is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children 10 and under. Advance tickets are available for drive-thru plates at the Sacred Heart Rectory and Hoffer’s Drive In. A short memorial will be given at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Msgr. John C Peters. The auction will begin after the memorial. Other activities include kiddie rides, games and a water slide (bring your own towels), a cake walk, country store, game booths and religious articles booth. Bingo is from noon to 6 p.m. The washer pitching tournament begins at 5 p.m. Hamburgers, french fries, popcorn, nachos, sno-cones, funnel cakes, lemonade and lots of cold soft drinks will be served all afternoon.
