Enjoy a Pirate Cruise in Port Aransas

The Red Dragon is modeled after the ancient Spanish Galleon-style ships and looks like the perfect home for Captain Jack Sparrow, or just about any other pirate you can imagine. The ship takes guests out onto the waters of the Lydia Ann Channel and then the show really begins. The cruise lasts about 2 hours and features a number of pirate life demonstrations that won't leave you forced to walk the plank.

What's Included in Your Pirate Cruise?

Your journey on board the Red Dragon will of course include a real pirate treasure hunt, a battle on the high seas, and they even offer special departures known as the 'Bet yer Booty' for adults only. Play cards with the pirates at your own risk.

Red Dragon Pirate Cruises have become super popular for birthday parties and fun field trips for all ages, but they advise that you call 361-749-AHOY (2469) to reserve your experience in advance. Times and availability may vary. Tickets start at $35 dollars for adults and $25 for kids 12 and under.

If you like they'll even paint your face with an authentic pirate mustache, and should you survive the journey, you might even be awarded your own certificate of completion. A degree in Pirating? You don't say!

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
