One of the most moving quotes I've ever read came from a story Fred Rogers was relaying about one of his childhood memories. I'll never forget it as long as I live.
"When I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people helping.' Fred would go on to say, " To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother's words and I am comforted by realizing there are so many helpers, so many caring people in the world."
It's great perspective especially to share with young children, and with each other right now.
We knew there were people who would be needing our help in the days ahead.
The question is who and how can we help?
One such local non- profit, Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry
, needs our help right away with donations of food, water and hand sanitizer, so that they can continue to help others. Located at 108 Liberty, VCAM has been a staple of service to those in need. They are accepting donations 8am to noon, Monday through Friday.
