It's really easy to become cynical... even skeptical nowadays. But there are lots of really good people and good organizations out there trying to do their part to make our world a better place. Dr Charles Rader and Texas Mission of Mercy proved this again last weekend.

Dr. Charles Rader hoped he and the group of volunteer dentists that assembled in Victoria last Thursday would be able to provide free dental care to about 450 people during the weekend while volunteering for the Texas Mission of Mercy.

The Texas Mission of Mercy program has been in action for more than 10 years across the state. Rader has volunteered for years, and the Victoria resident was thrilled to be able to offer free dental care to Crossroads residents through the program, he said.

"My expectations were definitely surpassed," Rader said.

Working Friday and Saturday, the volunteers for Texas Mission of Mercy were able to provide free dental work to 583 patients, Rader said. Between the dental work and the supplies that were donated, more than $373,000 of treatment was given away to anyone who waited in line outside the Liberty Academy Cafeteria.

KIXS 108 says a huge thank you to Dr. Rader and Texas Mission of Mercy.
