The Crossroads Community Band will perform in a free outdoor concert at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Victoria College Quad in front of the Technology Center. The concert will feature "Lone Star Celebration," "Fantasy on Yankee Doodle," "El Relicario March," "Amazing Grace," highlights from the movie "Independence Day," marches by John Philip Sousa, Karl King and much more. The event is free and open to the public. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic baskets. Parking is available at entrances 1 and 2 off Ben Jordan Street.

The band, conducted by Ken Peach, rehearses Tuesday nights in VC's band hall, says the Victoria Advocate. The Crossroads Community Band is affiliated with Victoria College, and students may enroll in the band for VC music ensemble credit. Founded in 2009, the Crossroads Community Band consists of instrumentalists from all walks of life including retirees, teachers, doctors, librarians, engineers, computer specialists, business people, students and musicians.
