City of Victoria Honored for Investment Policy
Pat yourself on the back, Victoria! The city has been selected to receive the Investment Policy Certification of Distinction from the Government Treasurers' Organization of Texas.
Victoria is a participating city on the GTOT Investment Policy Certification Program and receives the honor as part of its 9th year of involvement with the two-term program.
Assistant Director of Finance Wesley Janecek will accept the award at the upcoming GTOT Winter Seminar in San Antonio on February, 25th.
This distinction is given to organizations that meet the GTOT's guidelines for complying with the Texas Public Funds Investment Act. It really means the city is doing a great job using public funds to invest in securities, rates of return, management, and all the things that are a part of making sure that investment is truly in the public's best interest.
Victoria has also scored its 34th Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for the fiscal year of 2019. To bring home this away, the city's budget received a "proficient" rating for policy documentation, financial planning, operations, and communications.
As a resident of the crossroads, you can really tell that the folks leading the way in our community are committed to the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
Last but not least, the city has also received its 36th certificate of achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from GFOA for it's 2018 year-end report.
