Chris Stapleton Ties Garth Brooks and Faith Hill’s ACM Awards Record
The 2016 ACM Awards, much like the 2015 CMA Awards and the 2016 Grammy Awards, proved once again that Chris Stapleton is the real deal. On Sunday (April 3), the singer tied the record for the most ACM Awards wins in a single night.
At the 2016 ACM Awards, Stapleton took home a record-tying six trophies: Album of the Year as both artist and producer, Song of the Year as both artist and producer, New Male Vocalist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. He now shares that honor with two country superstars: Faith Hill and Garth Brooks.
In 1999, Hill took home Single Record of the Year as both artist and producer ("This Kiss"), Top Female Vocalist, Video of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year as both artist and producer ("Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me").
The 2016 ACMs were Stapleton's place to shine. Not only did he go home with a whole lot of trophies, he also thrilled the audience with his display of pure, unadulterated talent during his performance of "Fire Away."
