CDC Loosens Mask Guidelines for Fully Vaccinated
This is old news for the state of Texas. Back on March 10th, Governor Gregg Abbot opened Texas 1000% with no mask mandate! He just didn't loosen the mask mandate and got rid of it altogether. This was a moment that small and locally owned businesses were waiting for. It is now closing in on two months that the mask mandate in Texas has been lifted and COVID cases continue to decline. According to the Victoria County Dashboard, the hospitalization rate sits at 5% in Victoria with 138 active cases.
The White House COVID-19 Response Task Force on Tuesday loosened guidance for mask-wearing among those who have been fully vaccinated, saying those people can do most outdoor activities, including gathering with those who have not been vaccinated, safely without a mask.
To summarize, those who are fully vaccinated are safe to:
Walk, run or bike outdoors
Attend a small, outdoor gathering, both with those who are vaccinated and unvaccinated
Dine outdoors with people from multiple households
The CDC continues to recommend that masks be worn in crowded outdoor venues and situations such as concerts and stadiums, mostly because it would be difficult to know who is vaccinated and who is not, and masks protect the unvaccinated, Dr. Rochelle Walensky from the CDC said.
