Small-Town Texas Bar Exposed in $255,000 Gambling Crackdown
A bar in the middle of nowhere in Texas was busted for illegal gambling by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department! The Bar and Shack Grill in LaSalle, near Vanderbilt, Texas, was hosting a game called "Queen of Heart" that had a jackpot of $255,000 at the time of the bust. People from all over South Texas got word of the giveaway including individuals from San Antonio, Houston, and New Braunfels.
“Queen of Hearts” offered $5 tickets for a chance to have their name drawn and then select a card from the wall. If the person would pull the Queen of Hearts they would win the running jackpot. According to one report, as many as 1,000 individuals paid a visit to the Bar and Shack Grill in one week. One of those people was an undercover cop.

This is a criminal offense.
Under Chapter 47 of the Texas Penal Code, gambling is a criminal offense. While event organizers were not directly profiting from the prize pot, the business experienced a substantial increase in revenue through food and beverage sales generated by the surge in attendance.
What are they doing with the money?
After authorities processed the evidence, they found that the Queen of Hearts was one of the unturned cards on the board. Any portion of the money that was found the Sheriff's office through a seizure will distributed to non-profit organizations throughout Jackson County. The investigation is ongoing.
