Another Shooting Has Just Occurred in a Uvalde Park

There has just been another Shooting Uvalde! This has happened about a mile down the road from Robb Elementary!  This shooting appears to be gang related. According to a Twitter update posted by the Texas DPS:

We are working with the Uvalde Police Department and Sheriff’s Office following a suspected gang related shooting at Memorial Park. This information is preliminary, as the situation develops we will work with local law enforcement to provide updates

Shortly after news broke of the shooting, Gov. Greg Abbott issued a statement, expressing his outrage and that an additional six DPS trooper units will be sent to work around the clock. According to KSAT, police said they are looking for a juvenile suspect in connection with the shooting. Police said they know the suspect's name but they have not released it. Officers are also assuring the community that this is not a "dangerous situation for the general public."

This shooting happens just three months after the tragedy at Robb Elementary that claimed the lives of 19 children and 2 teachers. Today's shooting happened about a mile and half from Robb Elementary. Since the shooting, security changes have been made across Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.  DPS Troopers will now be stationed outside of schools. Uvalde just resumed classes this week. Students that attended Robb Elementary last year did not return are now attending different school throughout the district.  Robb Elementary will be demolished and a new school constructed.
