The Victoria Junior League is collecting items from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Highway 87 Storage, 11665 U.S. Highway 87 North, for its Spring Sweep 2014. The event, schedule for Feb. 28 - March 1 at the National Guard Armory on Mockingbird Lane, is billed as the largest fundraising garage sale Victoria has ever seen. People, as well as businesses, are encouraged to make donations, which are tax deductible. Items donated should be clean and in working condition. Clothing needs to be clean and delivered on hangers.

The Junior League will use the proceeds from Spring Sweep 2014 to fund grants for local organizations, says the Victoria Advocate. All donations that remain unsold after the sale will be donated to local nonprofit organizations in the Victoria area. A raffle will be held for a television. Tickets are $5 each.

Additional days set aside for taking your donations to the Highway 87 Storage are Jan. 12, Jan. 19, Feb. 2 and Feb. 16. Items will also be accepted the week of the garage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 23-25 at the National Guard Armory, 106 E. Mockingbird Lane.
