Instruments and voices will be featured when Victoria College musicians perform in two separate concerts Monday and Tuesday. The fourth annual Concert on the Quad featuring the Victoria College Commercial Band and Victoria College Jazz Combo will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the outdoor amphitheater area outside the VC Fine Arts Building. The bands, under the direction of Jonathan Anderson, VC music professor, will play a variety of music. "The VC Commercial Band will be performing a wide variety of music from Philip Philips to James Brown to Carrie Underwood," Anderson told the Victoria Advocate. "The VC Jazz will be performing jazz standards ranging from Herbie Hancock to Chick Corea to Miles Davis." Audiences are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets to the outdoor music event.

The following evening, the Victoria College Choir will sing excerpts from Bizet's opera "Carmen" and solos from other stage productions at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Johnson Symposium. The choir is under the direction of Marylynn Fletcher, VC music professor.

Both concerts are free and open to the public. For more information, call 361-572-6425 or visit VictoriaCollege.edu.
