I can remember a time when we took our water for granted. We shouldn't have... and now it's at crisis stage.

The Mid-Coast Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists is hosting a presentation on Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products in the Environment. Melissa Mullins, an environmental biologist with Center for Reservoir and Aquatic Systems Research at Baylor University, will give the presentation. The Victoria Advocate says Mullins will discuss sources and possible solutions to pharmaceutical and personal care products in drinking water, water-quality monitoring and drug take-back programs.

Weather permitting, participants will collect and test water from San Antonio Bay for dissolved oxygen, acidity, conductivity, temperature, E. coli and nutrients.

The presentation will be from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Seadrift branch of the Calhoun County Library, 502 S. 4th St., Seadrift. It is free and open to the public. To reserve a place at the meeting, email Brigid Berger at brigidberger@comcast.net.
