Here are some very timely and helpful hints from the local chapter of the Better Business Bureau on how to be prepared for an emergency situation:

In Texas, summer doesn’t just mean it’s time for vacations, it also brings hurricanes and the potential for severe storms. Hurricane hazards come in many forms, including storm surge, heavy rainfall, inland flooding, high winds, tornadoes, and rip currents. Better Business Bureau serving Central, Coastal, Southwest Texas and the Permian Basin urges families to prepare for the unexpected and devise their own emergency preparedness plans.  It’s important to assess and prepare for their local disaster risks and unplanned emergencies.

I can't stay up late enough these days to watch Nightline on ABC. Well, to be honest, I never watched it very often when I could stay up that late. But I saw this story online, and it looked interesting. Not because I fancy myself the type of guy they're looking for (besides, I signed a "non-compete" with my wife, Sweetie), but because I'm always fascinated by stories with a different "twist" on the way things have been done before. So, when I saw this story about a company that hires out "gentlemen" to ladies for two hours at a time (with no hanky-panky involved), I thought it was blog-worthy.

A car is stolen in Texas every five and a half minutes. Having your vehicle’s VIN etched into its window glass will greatly reduce your chances of becoming a victim of vehicle theft.
