The Taste of Goliad Fundraiser will be February 8th at the Goliad Memorial Auditorium on County Fairgrounds Road in Goliad from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tickets will be $15 at the door, only $12 for adult pre-sale and $5 per child (10 and under).
Goliad will hold a ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday on the courthouse square. Retired Lt. Col. Mark H. Stroman, USMC; and Clarence Robinson, retired U.S. Navy; will be the keynote speakers. According to the Victoria Advocate music will be provided by Grace Neicrante, the Goliad High School Band and Choir Boys of Beeville

The driver of a one-vehicle wreck that killed 14 illegal immigrants and injured nine others has been released by Department of Public Safety officials. According to the Victoria Advocate's Jennifer Preyss, Trooper Gerald Bryant said Ricardo Mendoza-Pineda, 22, of Mexico, has been identified as the driver of the 2000 Ford F-250 extended cab pickup truck that was carrying 22 Guatemala and Honduras nationals north on U.S. Highway 59 toward Goliad.
