Whatever you think of television's "American Idol", you have to admit they have produced some very talented performers in the past. From Kelly Clarkson to Carrie Underwood to Scotty McCreery and all the rest. The show has accomplished even more than it set out to accomplish.

Scotty McCreery joins The Band Perry on Brad Paisley’s Virtual Reality World Tour, starting this week, but will the American Idol winner find time to keep up with the show that made him famous? The next season of Idol kicks off next week on FOX, and Scotty tells the Grand Rapids Press you can “count on” him tuning in. Scotty knows first-hand what the contestants will be going through. “It’s definitely overwhelming. When I first tried out for this big gig, I didn’t really have any expectations of making it and definitely not winning it. I just wanted to see what they’d say to me and get some advice to take back home and develop my craft.” Scotty says he’ll play a 30-minute set before The Band Perry and head back to his bus on Idol nights to catch the show.

The Virtual Reality World Tour launches Thursday (1/12) in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The American Idol season 11 premiere is January 18th at 8PM Eastern on FOX.

Scotty’s album Clear As Day has just been certified Platinum.

You can hear Scotty McCreery, The Band Perry, and Brad Paisley every day on KIXS 108.
