YORKTOWN - Memorial Day services will be hosted by the Vietnam Veteran's Association at 10:30 p.m. Monday at Yorktown Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Main Street. For more information, call Clark Kolick at 361-564-2487.

EDNA - The annual placing of the flags on the graves of servicemen and women will take place at Memory Gardens, 204 Buffalo St., at 9 a.m. with a flag-raising ceremony.

 

GANADO - The American Legion Post 346 will host a Memorial Day service at 8 a.m. Monday at the American Legion Hall, 498 County Road 256. Breakfast will be served after the service.

HALLETTSVILLE - The Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce will host a Memorial Day Service at 9 a.m. Monday at the square near the Hallettsville Courthouse, 109 N. La Grange St. Wreaths are welcome, and breakfast will be available. Capt. Donald Hodges, a U.S. Air Force officer in charge of combat control in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Spc. Mitchel Rabon, who served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Afghanistan, will speak.

 

YOAKUM - The city of Yoakum will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday at the Yoakum Fire Station, 203 Nelson St. Refreshments will be served.

 

SHINER - Shiner Chamber of Commerce will host a Memorial Day event at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Green-Dickson Park, off of Farm-to-Market Road 351. Activities include an opening prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the national anthem. Shiner-area veterans will be honored with 12 wreaths. Marine Lt. Col. Mike Whitten will speak. Boy Scout Troop 231 will fold the flag. Refreshments will be served at the Arthur Ward Pavilion.
