Kelsey Van Pelt is our IBC Scholar Student of the Month. Kelsey is in the 10th grade at Industrial High School in Vanderbilt, Texas.  Kelsey does extremely well academically and is very involved in extra-curricular activities.

Kelsey was nominated and inducted into Industrial High School’s National Honor Society. These nominations come from their grade point average, participation in school activities and from the teachers’ recommendation.

Kelsey participated this 2013-2014 school year in University Interscholastic League (UIL) competition-Lincoln Douglas Debate and won District Champion & and advances as a Regional Qualifier. She also participated in UIL Persuasive Extemporaneous Speaking her 9th & 10th grade years and also became District Champion and Regional Qualifier.

Some of Kelsey’s extra-curricular activities are belonging to different clubs/organizations. She is Secretary of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA); and is on the executive council for Student Council. As a Sophomore, she was selected to the Varsity Cheerleader squad and made UCA All American Cheerleader  the past two years.

Kelsey is also very active in sports. She was on the Varsity Volleyball team this 2013-2014 school year and was selected and given the honor of being Academic All-District Volleyball Player. Kelsey’s love of basketball has earned her many awards. She has been on the Varsity Basketball team both her 9th & 10th grade years. Kelsey was selected as Team Captain and has received recognition as Academic All-District Basketball (2 years), selected as Basketball Newcomer of the Year-9th grade; Unanimous 1st Team All-District Basketball; TACB All Region Team, and the Victoria Advocate-All Area Basketball for 2 years.

Kelsey’s civic and church involvement shows that she is very concerned and wants to help out in the community. She is an active participant in her church as a youth leader and has been involved in Relay for Life in support of American Cancer Society as well as other benefits. Kelsey has a deep love for and acts graciously for human mankind.
