1977: Elvis Presley made his last concert appearance, at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana.  His last song was "Can't Help Falling In Love."

1979: Elvis' father, Vernon, died of a heart attack in Tupelo, Mississippi at the age of 63.

1981: "The Originals" album by Statler Brothers was certified Gold.

1985: "Big River" became the first, cast soundtrack album recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. The Broadway play was written by the late Roger Miller.

1989: Alan Jackson signed with Arista Records.

1992: Mary Chapin Carpenter's "Come On, Come On" album was released.

1992: Vince Gill's "I Still Believe In You" made its chart debut.

1994: Garth Brooks was among the musicians honored for their charity work by VH1 with an hour-long TV special.

2000: Randy Travis and his wife, Elizabeth, announced they were selling their Ashland City, Tennessee residence named Dogwood Farms.  The 100-year-old, 88-hundred-square-foot log house, which had a gym and southwestern-style adobe fireplace, was put on the market for nearly $1.9 million.

2001: Patty Loveless' album "Mountain Soul," and Lila McCann's album "Complete" arrived in stores.

2003: Alan Jackson joined Jimmy Buffett on stage in Indianapolis, Indiana to shoot a concert segment for the video for their collaborative hit "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere."

2004: Martina McBride's single "This One's for the Girls" reached number one on the "Billboard" adult contemporary chart.  It had been a top ten country hit the previous fall.

2006: Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman left Sydney, Australia for a lavish, week-long honeymoon in Bora Bora.

2007: Carrie Underwood was named PETA's World's Sexiest Female Vegetarian, earning the nod through an online vote.

2010: Vince Gill took part in Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago.  Vince had previously participated in the classic rocker's first guitar fest in 2004 as well as his second event in 2007.  Money raised went to Clapton's rehab facility, the Crossroads Centre, in Antigua.

2010: Carrie Underwood's bachelorette party took place at LAVO in the Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas.

2012: Carrie Underwood made her Australian concert debut with a show at the Palais Theatre in Perth.
