Every once in a while a new country artist comes along that you just like from the beginning. I liked Jake Owen from the first time I heard him.

Jake Owen’s career is red hot thanks to the success of his current single, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.” CMT Daily Roundup reports that the song recently celebrated Digital Gold certification after selling more than 550-thousand downloads. Fans have been braving the heat all summer to hear Jake play the tune, which he says is the perfect opener for his shows. I personally though "Startin' With Me" and "Don't Think I Can't Love You" were great records with the ability to put Owen on the musical map. Owen said,  “People have always said to me you just need one song, you know, to get it…get it started and get people in. And I thought I’ve always…I thought I’ve always had hits that I thought were big songs, but there’s a huge difference in a song that, like, the minute you start playing it people just go nuts.” The summer heat almost got the best of the singer during this year’s CMA Music Festival. Jake recently revealed to the Associated Press that he almost passed out on stage during his Riverfront Stage performance. Luckily, Jake kept his cool and even took the stage with his tour mate Keith Urban at LP Field the next night for a surprise appearance.

You can catch Jake Owen live with the Keith Urban "Get Closer World Tour 2011" at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on August 28th.
