Victoria College's Lyceum Committee invites VC students, faculty, staff and the Victoria community to recommend speakers for its 2015-16 series. "The VC Lyceum is first and foremost a public service to our students and our Victoria community," Lisa DeVries, VC Lyceum Committee chair, told the Victoria Advocate. "We want to select speakers that engage our local audience, so we encourage the community to send in their suggestions."

This year's Lyceum offerings are a diverse group that include Deborah Blum, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer whose lecture was in September; Lorraine Warren, America's top ghost hunter; Of Ebony Embers with the Core Ensemble, a performance that brings to life the Harlem Renaissance; Jim Keady, a civic activist; and Mack Dryden, a comedian and motivational speaker.

Anyone who wishes to suggest a particular speaker can go VictoriaCollege.edu and click on "Know of a good speaker?" You'll be asked to submit the name of the proposed speaker and explain why the Victoria community would find this speaker and topic appealing. The deadline to submit Lyceum speaker suggestions is Dec. 1.
