Extinct Animals That Once Roamed Texas

Do you ever wonder what sort of critters may have wandered around our part of the world back before we did? Sometime, when I’m driving through South Texas, I like to think about what came before. If I see an armadillo or a tortoise or a wild turkey or a javelina it makes this process a lot easier.

This Saturday at 10am you can get to know the creatures that roamed our land more than 11,000 years ago at the Museum of the Coastal Bend, 2200 East Red River in
Victoria. Try out our interactive programming, including throwing spears at a life-size mammoth target!
